Start with places you could actually investigate

A comparison is more useful when every entry represents a real next step. A city name, an attractive street and a specific vacant unit are three different levels of detail. Bring your candidates to the same level before comparing them.

LaundryLocation, our neighbourhood comparison tool, works with up to three U.S. addresses. Preparing that shortlist first helps you turn its side-by-side report into a practical plan rather than a collection of interesting figures.

Record why each address made the list

Write one sentence beside each candidate explaining what attracted you. It might be a location near housing, a premises you can visit or a conversation with an agent. Keep that initial reason separate from facts you have checked.

Then add the next unanswered question. Does the unit have the space you need? Can you visit it? Is the advertised address actually the entrance you will use? A candidate with no realistic next step may belong on a longer research list rather than in this comparison.

Confirm the match before reading the numbers

When entering an address, check the returned location carefully. Similar street names, unit numbers and nearby entrances can make a plausible match worth a second look. Use a complete address and keep the original listing beside your notes.

If two candidates fall within the same census tract, their neighbourhood figures may be identical. That is not a reason to invent a demographic distinction. It means the difference between those premises needs to come from access, visibility, the space itself and your fieldwork.

Give each candidate the same notes

Use the same headings for all three: address, reason for interest, premises information, access observations and next question. Empty fields are useful because they show what you have not investigated yet.

Imagine candidate A has a detailed listing while candidate B came from a quick drive past. Do not mistake the larger amount of information for a stronger site. First bring the missing details up to the same standard, then compare.

Take the comparison into the next conversation

LaundryLocation's PDF and CSV let you carry one consistent set of neighbourhood figures into visits and follow-up work. Add your premises notes alongside them so the numbers remain connected to the actual places.

Prepare your three addresses, explore the sample report, then order your comparison when the shortlist is ready. A useful purchase is one that makes the next visit or question clearer.
